Thinking of Investing in a Ham Radio and a Wood Burning Stove
Okay, so, my power went out AGAIN this evening, just as I was finishing cooking dinner on the electric stove (luckily the burners stayed just hot enough just long enough for me to finish cooking). I suppose the power grid got overwhelmed because of so many people turning their AC on full blast to try to counteract today's 101 degree heat?
Anyway, it's back on now, but we have storms forecast later in the week, and I have gotten to the point where I am basically expecting the storms to knock my electricity out.
Which kinda sucks.

We had brown-outs every day last week from everyone cranking their A/C. But we're in Florida. That's the norm. Hope yours stays on :)
dude, get the radio. we have one that has a solar panel, and even though it's coated in a dusty jacket of dust, and is dusty as hell, and I think I may not recognize it if I am standing on top of it b/c it's so fricking dusty, I'm glad to have it. somewhere. covered in dust.
the stove - just get a wee camping stove, that you can use sterno to heat. and stockpile the sterno.
yee-hah! camping in the city! inside your apartment! in 101 degree temperatures!
bleah.
We have been scared to restock our fridge because our electricity has gone of 3 more times since we got it back on after storms. Oh and guess what it went out again last night.
We were out all last night, too, Jai.
I edited a friend's manuscript by flashlight.
The rest of the fam lost their damn minds. Anger, anger, anger.
Thanfully we haven't had any. Other areas have but not us.
The electricity gods like us.
What did you do to tick off mother nature?
Me, Dana? Me?
